30 September – 6 October
Exhibition by Devon artist R.J. Lloyd, whose work is included in the collections of the V&A Museum, National Maritime Museum and Tate Gallery amongst others.
“It gives me great pleasure to present this exhibition by the artist at The Oxmarket Gallery. I have known the artist for 25 years and am delighted to be presenting this exhibition.
These works are full of vigour, of colour and of passion. They remain as strong as ever. A painting or drawing is set in the moment; it reflects that which the artist sees as he surveys the scenery around him and from which he styles and presents his impression of what is before him.
Works by the artist have been acquired and admired by many, with his works in major national collections such as the Tate, the National Maritime Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, The British Embassy Paris, Exeter and Oriel Colleges Oxford, Pembroke College Cambridge, Lancaster Education Authority, Teignbridge Council by commission, Exeter University, Exeter, Burton Art Gallery Bideford, Hatton Art Gallery Newcastle, and numerous private collections at home and abroad.
R J Lloyd (1926-) is a distinctive and interesting artist with a long and successful career including many architectural commissions and his works are greatly admired. He cannot make the journey to the Oxmarket Gallery for this exhibition but he is most assuredly here in spirit.”
