What’s On

John Rank Gallery – 27 April – 9 May, Houseboat Artists, ‘In and Out of The Frame.’

“We are a diverse group of artists who, prior to the Covid pandemic, met regularly on a Shoreham Houseboat.

Since lockdown we have continued to keep in contact via WhatsApp and Zoom and have inspired one another to keep on creating.

We present an interesting variety of work – sculpture, painting, drawing,  prints, mosaic, collage, hand made books and cards and more.

Our first joint exhibition in 2019 at Skyway gallery, Shoreham was a huge success and we are now fired up for our next, in the beautiful setting of the Oxmarket”

Wilson Studio – 27 April – 9 May, Nettie Rowsell, ‘Soul Stiches’

“I started making hand embroidered portraits in 2017 during a lull in my self employed work as antique textiles restorer. I had many years of adult education training in life drawing / painting, and a certificate in technical hand embroidery from The Royal School of Needlework, and the skills from both disciplines have come in useful. I’ve experimented with many art forms and techniques over the years, but I always come back to depicting faces and bodies.”

Reception Gallery, 27 April – 9 May, David Meeking, ‘Spaces and Places’

The idea behind the exhibition is for the viewer to be taken on a journey to an imagined space or place from memory providing escapism particularly in the current climate we find ourselves experiencing. The work is a mixture of Oil and mixed media, some work involves layers of paint being applied in layers and scraped back to reveal hidden paint colours a process that takes time and patience
