Barbara Jones

16 – 28 July

Barbara Jones started painting 25 years ago when she was first introduced to watercolours at a local college.  During a difficult time in her life her passion for painting became both therapeutic and a place to find relaxation.

Although a passionate watercolour painter, Barbara also enjoys other mediums and has included some acrylic work in her collection.  She enjoys switching mediums to keep the mind fresh and open to exploring new techniques.

Her love of the coast is hugely inspirational and the tranquillity and pleasure it brings her.  However her subjects are varied and if something moves her she just has to paint it! It has been a long journey but she believes if you have the dedication and the passion you will evolve as an artist.  A big obstacle is learning to be confident and not to be afraid of failure.

Barbara is now a full-time painter, she is active in the local area as Secretary to the successful Emsworth Arts Trail and takes part in the Maydaysartstrail on Hayling Island and Hampshire Open Studios.  Barbara is also a regular exhibitor at the Oxmarket.  Barbara holds private watercolour lessons and small workshops.

In 2018 Barbara was shortlisted for the Artist and Illustrators Award and was selected for the Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition where her paintings were on show at the Mall Gallery, London.
