Felted Landscape Paintings
30 January – 11 February 2018
Sussex based artist Deanna Hilder works in a variety of media and her latest works have been made using the process of felting. Inspired by the ebb and flow of the sea around the Old Shoreham Fort and by her photographs of the Sussex Downs she has created these abstract, landscape paintings.
“I have tried to capture the colours and the movement of the sea and the soft hues of the beautiful Sussex countryside. I consider myself very fortunate to live in an area of such diverse and inspiring natural beauty and I wanted to capture those colours and shapes in my work.
The rhythmic processes involved in making the felt has been both physically and mentally satisfying, but at the same time experimental, spontaneous and always with an element of chance so I never really know what the final outcome will be”.
